The year 1952, there was a birth in Boynton Beach, FL - the birth of a Catholic Church, a community of believing people joined to support and affirm one another's faith, in unity with Catholics around the world, a community dedicated to holiness within and goodness to be shared with this part of God's world. In Christian iconography St. Mark's emblem, like the emblems of the other evangelists, is of very ancient date. Already in the time of St. Augustine and St. Jerome "the four living creatures" of Apoc. 4: 7-8 were held to be typical of the evangelists.

 The medieval artistic representation of St. Mark as the winged lion seems to be derived from Mark's opening of his Gospel with the description of John the Baptist as a "Voice crying in the wilderness" (Mark 1: 3) and which artistic tradition came to compare to a roaring lion - the lord of the desert.

 We celebrate his feast on the anniversary day of his death, April 25, 68 A.D. On April 24 he was seized by the heathens in Alexandria, who tied his feet with cords and dragged him about the streets. The ground was stained with blood, At night he was cast into prison and the following day after being tortured all night he expired.

 Following his example let us never be timid in the profession of our faith.
 A Christian Community is composed of several types of stones, most importantly are the living stones, that can only be created by mutual love and respect for one another. It is only in this atmosphere that one is able to grow and mature into the member of Christ's Body that we are called to become.

The Parish of St. Mark presently numbers some 1800 registered families.
